Symbion's Nairobi office traveled to KIPWA Eco Lodge for the annual office Christmas party. The road trip was much longer than anticipated having run into the crowds attending Mount Kenya University graduation ceremony in Thika but the destination was enjoyed by all. The Eco Lodge provided ample food and refreshments and a tour of some of the 300 acre conservancy where ostriches, crocodiles and other animal and plant species are being protected. Standard Chartered Marathon 2013 Nairobi

Symbion members woke up early on Sunday 27th October 2013 to participate in Kenya's largest annual athletic event the 11th Standard Chartered Marathon through the streets of Nairobi. The Symbion members sporting there bright blue shirts took the time to join and help raise money to support Seeing is Believing, a Standard Chartered Bank initiative aimed at combating preventable blindness; local sporting talent and boosting the profile of Kenya as a whole. Kenya College of Insurance - 2nd Place Finalists

Symbion came runners up in a recent design competition for the proposed new Leadership Centre in South B, Nairobi for the Kenya College of Insurance. The proposed project featured a new learning resource facility, conferencing, hotel, spa and a fitness centre. Although disappointed on being pipped to the first prize we felt that the design was well conceived and thank all those who participated in the development and delivery of the teams submission. ....

New Kisumu Shopping Mall - Groundbreaking Ceremony

The groundbreaking ceremony for the a new 30,000 m2 shopping mall in Kisumu designed by Symbion Architects, took place on 7th August 2013 with the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources Prof. Judi W. Wakhungu Ph.D invited as the guest of honor. The event was also attended by the Lake Basin Development Authority Board and Chairman, Director of Regional Development, County Commissioner and Governor alike. Kampala: Introducing the DFCU House

The Office Development located on Nakasero Hill in the Kampala Capital will serve as a multipurpose building accommodating banking halls, executive banking wings, customer service centres, offices serviced by multiple pantries, a cocktail terrace, fitness club, double storey parking-lot and a Chinese banking centre, a first in the Uganda’s financial market. This project adopts high end contemporary architecture whilst maintaining classical themes, developed through the productive collaboration between DFCU management and Symbion Uganda Ltd. The dominant blue and white DFCU colour scheme has been used consistently through a range of blue ceramic tiles and tinted glass portraying the prominent image of the bank. This is complimented by Rwandan granite which has been highlighted through principal outdoor features such as the gate house. Kampala: Bugolobi Village Mall- Minutes to Completion

The proposed Bugolobi Village Mall is a 10,000 square meter shopping centre situated in the prime residential area of Bugolobi, Kampala. It will be the first substantial shopping mall in the area impacting lifestyles and development to the neighbourhood and surrounding areas. The mall has been explicitly designed to accommodate a supermarket, retail shops, a spa, a bank branch and a food court, restaurants and other recreational areas. The design challenge saw the manipulation of the constricted outline of the site; the result has been an oblong structure carefully split by unique entrance courts and tall access towers, both aesthetically appealing and functional. The designs for the external façades, and internal public areas were inspired by classical architecture and more particularly, Tuscan style villages.
