Commercial Project

The Airport Trade Centre is a modern upmarket office block designed and developed to high international standards at the entrance to the main airport in Nairobi, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Contemporary architecture exemplified in the use of angular planes, wide cantilevered roofs and light¬weight transparent entrance canopy evokes imagery of motion and flight. The building has combined solar glass panels and solid walls on the external facades minimising the use of artificial energy in lighting and air conditioning.

As one of the first building that is seen by visitors entering Kenya through the JKIA, the design intention was to create a powerful architectural statement that also provides a visual highlight pause from the humdrum buildings around the airport.
