We are thrilled to announce that the Aga Khan University Center, one of our latest projects, has received EDGE Advanced Certification. This is an internationally recognized green building standard awarded to buildings for their sustainable design and performance. The certification was made possible through collaborative efforts between the excellent design teams at Symbion Consulting Group and Payette.

Agha Khan University Centre is a high-rise building complex featuring classrooms, staff workspaces, and multi-functional suites for training medical and nursing students in a variety of simulated clinical experiences. Sitting on a 0.75 ha site, the mini campus also features a host of auxiliary spaces such as outdoor spaces for informal meetings and reading.

The project achieved its EDGE Advanced certification for several sustainable features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. These features include:
– 41% reduction in energy consumption
– 22% reduction in water consumption
– 28% reduction in embodied energy of materials

We believe that implementing sustainable measures is simply one aspect of obtaining the EDGE Advanced certification. The certification also stands for our commitment to tackling the climate change crisis and inspiring others to follow suit; and given the important role that buildings play in reversing the course of the crisis, the Aga Khan University Centre is paving the way forward through its EDGE Advanced certification.
